Introduction to Contacts CRM

In this article we will discuss the basics of Contacts CRM, and familiarize you with the fundamental aspects of managing your leads and contacts from within the Contacts CRM solution.

Note - To begin using Contacts CRM, you must have a paid plan.

Overview

Contacts CRM is a customer relationship management system that allows users to manage each of their Contacts while also managing the Companies that each contact may be related to. Within Contacts CRM, a contact can be categorized as either a Contact or as a Lead.

To help users understand the difference between a Lead, Contact, and Company we suggest using the following definitions.

  • Contact - A individual that has done business with you, or has directly contacted you for the purpose of creating a business relationship.
  • Lead - An individual that has shown interest in doing business with you in some manor, but a formal relationship has not been established.
  • Company - A business entity that contains individuals as owners and employees.

For the sake of simplicity, any reference to a Contact within this article will also infer the reference to a Lead.

Many times traditional CRM systems require the user to manage a Contact's company information within the same record as the individual contact. However, if a company's information such as name, address, or phone number changes, this can result in a user having to update multiple Contact records even when the Contacts information remained the same. Contacts CRM takes a different approach.

Within Contacts CRM, individual Contact records and individual Company records are recorded by the user separately. Then from within either a Contact's record or a Company's record the user can link the contact to the company.

This not only ensures that if a Company's information changes, the information only has to be updated in one location, but also allows for real life situations where one Contact to belong to many Companies.

Note - To being using Contacts CRM, you must have a paid plan.
