Leads in Contacts CRM

Obtaining, tracking, and converting leads to contacts are a vital aspect of any business. In fact it's so vital that we've integrated our Advertise and Professionals solution with Contacts CRM to assist users with gaining new leads automatically.

In this article we will discuss the two ways a lead enters your Contacts CRM records.

Note - To begin using Contacts CRM, you must have a paid plan.

Overview

Within Contacts CRM, a single contact record is categorized as either a Contact or as a Lead using the Contact Type field.

To help users understand the difference between a Lead and a Contact we suggest using the following definitions.

  • Contact - A individual that has done business with you, or has directly contacted you for the purpose of creating a business relationship.
  • Lead - An individual that has shown interest in doing business with you in some manor, but a formal relationship has not been established.

This type of structuring helps the user in two ways. First, the user can quickly filter leads that they may wish to solicit in an effort to converting the lead to a contact.

Second, it helps the user identify which contact records may have been automatically recorded by Contacts CRM because the contact viewed the user's published advertisement or Professionals page, and which contacts the user may have a true relationship with.

A contact's record can enter Contacts CRM as a Lead in the following three ways:

Manually Entered By the User

When a user chooses to manually enter a contact into Contacts CRM, they are required to supply a value for both the Contact Type and Email field. Within the dropdown options of the Contact Type field the user can select between categorizing the contact as a Lead or Contact.

Additionally, if a user has optioned to utilize the built-in Zapier integration, a user can enter a value for the optional Source ID field.

By manually utilizing the optional Source ID filed, users can trigger events, such as marketing emails, from within their 3rd party application, once Zapier passes the record to the 3rd party application.

Note - For additional information about Zapier and our Zapier Integration, please refer to Zapier Integration with Contacts CRM.

Note - For more information about manually adding a contact to Contacts CRM, please refer to Adding a Contact to Contacts CRM.

Important - To properly trigger a 3rd party event, the Source ID value, within a Lead or Contacts record, must exactly match the string value being used to trigger an event or workflow within the 3rd party application.

Lead Automation

With the integrations that are built-in Contacts CRM, when a user choose to publish a page to our public website by using the following solutions, each new viewer is automatically added to Contacts CRM as Lead.

  • Advertise solution - A solution within the user's Dashboard that allows a user to publish either a Park for Sale Ad for the purpose of sell a mobile home park, or a Classified Ad for the purpose of selling industry related goods and services.
  • Professionals solution - A solution within the user's Dashboard that allows a user to publicly promote themselves with a personal Professionals page.

Additionally when a user has optioned to utilize the built-in Zapier integration settings for the purpose of trigging events such as marketing emails, Contacts CRM will use the Source ID Field value (within the Zapier Integration settings), as a default Source ID value for each newly added lead.

This allows users to trigger a desired event, within a 3rd party application, once Zapier passes the new record to the 3rd party application.

Note - For additional information about Zapier and our Zapier Integration, please refer to Zapier Integration with Contacts CRM.

Important - To properly trigger a 3rd party event, the Source ID value, within a Lead or Contacts record, must exactly match the string value being used to trigger an event or workflow within the 3rd party application.

Important - Because of browser security, a Lead can only be automatically added to Contacts CRM when the viewer's email address has been properly identified by our system.
