Linking Contacts to Companies within Contacts CRM

We've structured Contacts CRM so that you have two types of record sets. One is for managing each of your Contacts and the other is for managing each of the Companies that your contacts may be associated with.

In this article you become familiar with two methods of linking a Contact record to a Company record.

Overview

By structuring the records within Contacts CRM to house Contacts and Companies separately, we ensure that if a contact's company information changes, the user will only have to make a simple update to the company's record.

This also helps to eliminate the potential for data entry errors which helps to maintain data consistency for times that you wish to filter records..

To help users understand the difference between Contacts records and the records stored within the Companies tab, we suggest referencing the following definitions.

  • Contacts Tab - Contains individual people that are considered either a Lead or Contact
  • Companies Tab - Contains businesses that employs individuals.

After a company record has been created within the Companies tab of the Contacts CRM main page, users can either link a contact from within a contact's record, or from within the company's record.

Note - To begin using Contacts CRM, you must have a paid plan.

Important - The instructions listed below assumes that you have already created an existing company that you wish to add a contact to.

Instructions

From within a Contact's Record

To link a contact to a company from within a Contact's record, please perform the following steps:

  1. Login to your MHParks.com account. 
  2. In your Dashboard, click Contacts CRM from the left menu.
  3. While viewing the Contacts tab, locate the contact you wish to link to a company. (Hint - Use the filter or Search field to help locate the correct contact)
  4. Within the Actions menu of the specific contact, select the View option. 
  5. While viewing the contact's details, click the Company Information tab located at the left of the details.
  6. Within the Company Title search field begin typing the company name. (Hint - A list of matching company names will appear in the drop down menu.)
  7. Within the drop down menu click the correct name of the company.
  8. Click the Link button.

Upon clicking the Link button you will receive a success dialog box and the linked company will display in the contact's list of Company Information.

From within a Company's Record

To link a contact to a company from within you company records, please perform the following steps:

  1. Login to your MHParks.com account. 
  2. In your Dashboard, click Contacts CRM from the left menu.
  3. While viewing the Companies tab, locate the company you wish to link to a contact. (Hint - Use the filter or Search field to help locate the correct company)
  4. Within the Actions menu of the specific company, select the View option. 
  5. While viewing the company's details, click the Linked Contacts tab located at the left of the details.
  6. Within the Search Contact field start typing the name of the contact you wish to link to the company. (Hint - A list of matching contact names will appear in the drop down menu.)
  7. Click the Link button.

Upon clicking the Link button you will receive a success dialog box and the linked contact will display in the company's list of Linked Contacts.
